"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures."
Thornton Wilder
Like the ones my sister and I shared while growing up. And the many nights of the "fishing game" - in which I would throw one end of my blanket down (from the top bunk) and she would tie something to it.
Usually her foot.
Which was funny until the night that I fell off the bed while reeling in her appendage.
Especially in this gorgeous little Italian town that everyone seems to be blogging about.
Cinque Terre, I think we're made for each other. You just don't know it yet.
Never underestimate the importance of good cheese. Never.
Of which I have many.
Resisted purchasing another this weekend while shopping with the girls. $40 at Nordstrom Rack. Thought I'd died and gone to Heaven. Until my better judgment sent me right back down to earth.
That better judgment is a moment-killer if I ever saw one.
I love sending it. I love getting it.
And memories of eating chocolate ice cream, having hoedowns in the front parlor, dressing up in matching outfits and confiding elementary school crushes.
Where I longed to be this weekend, spending time with our mamas and going on Model T rides.
At summer weddings.
And the lulling sounds of crickets, children playing in the distance and lovers' whispers.

ReplyDeletethose bunkbeds look pretty awesome. i think even now i wouldn't mind sleeping in the top bunk.. maybe not forever, but it would be nice haha oh my gosh, falling out of the top bunk cannot be fun. ouch! funny now though since you're fine, but still ouch! my friend fell out once while she was asleep. so scary! (she was fine)
