Independence Day Weekend.

We spent the holiday weekend in Connecticut, doing very little aside from spending time with family, reading by the pool and church hunting in the Stamford area. We did head out to our hometown's parade to cheer on my parents (don't they look awesome in the 1927?) and to show off our bulldog's bow tie, but he wasn't terribly jazzed about it. In fact, he shook from start to finish. He has a very strict no-guns-or-drums policy.

After the parade, my sister and her husband invited a group of their church friends over for a pool party, and there were babies running all over the backyard. It was the 4th as we'd known it as kids - salt breezes, endless watermelon and towels hanging from every fencepost.

Happy Independence Day, America!
