More on our big news.

In all honesty, we weren't sure how much we were going to broadcast this wonderful pregnancy news, simply because keeping it close made it feel that much more sacred. Pregnancy is such a deeply personal experience that comes with a series of (often unpredictable) emotions, and sharing this little lemon-sized person with the world seemed strange. But my goodness, I'm so glad we did. The outpouring of love from friends and family has been overwhelming, and we're feeling awfully blessed by it.

The details:
*I'm fourteen and a half weeks along at this point, and feeling a bit better than I did in the first trimester. the nausea and fatigue haven't disappeared altogether, but I'm hoping the end is in sight!
*baby is due May 23rd, but genetics have me suspecting that it will come a little earlier. we'll see...
*the bump is just baaaarely there at this point. bagels and brie certainly helped with the illusion here.
*we know the sex of the baby (they can determine sex with a simple blood test these days), and we'll share here soon. :)
*the first month or two had me pretty anxious about keeping this baby healthy and growing. we had an ultrasound last Monday that alleviated some of those fears - baby is moving like crazy, and heartbeat is strong.

We're just crazy about this kid already, and we're so grateful that God has placed him/her in our care. Truly, a miraculous thing.

  1. Congrats!!! I'm so excited for you both. I've been following your blog for a long time and it will be so fun to read your parenting adventures.

What blood test can you have done to determine the gender? My youngest is three years old and they didn't have anything like that at the time. I would love to find out the gender of future babies faster.

    1. Thank you! We went with the Panorama (http://www.panoramatest.com/), though I know there are a few like it. The test runs a panel for chromosomal abnormalities, genetic disorders and sex. I had the blood test at 11 weeks and we found out at 13 weeks. If you're someone who doesn't like the suspense (I hear you), I highly recommend!
